I can write for days about sustainable living, ethical clothing, whole farm-to-table food and social consciousness. I cannot write enough about the relationship between how we treat each other, our earth, sacred grounds and it's inhabitants when its not on trend, convenient, cheap or ready-made and our sense of integrity and humanity.
Standing Rock could not have happened at a more crucial time (post US election). While the peaceful protest is about protecting a specific piece of land and water flow, and preserving a unique culture, it is largely a call to action to see, honor (literally bow down to) and protect (at any means necessary) the core aspects that unite all of us regardless of race, class, gender - land, water, community, spirit. Our humanity. You can't get much more inclusive. As a neo-homesteading city girl - this is the super high vibration of "green".
If you can show your physical support, fantastic. Please be safe. If you are not able to be there in spirit, please consider other ways of demonstrating your solidarity - through donations (money, services or goods), petitioning congress, organizing local off-site protests (i.e. a sit-in on Washington), sharing this post, and prayer.
