Another Trip Around the Sun

It's my birthday.
(Technically, it was a couple of weeks ago. Blame my Venus in Cancer—I like to keep some things close to the vest.)

By the time I write about them, I've usually had a chance to live with them for a while.

This year, my birthday also arrived in the middle of eclipse season.

Which feels about right. Let’s widen that aperature just a little bit more.

The older I get, the less birthdays feel like a scoreboard and the more they feel like a quiet check-in.

Not How much did I accomplish?

Does my perennial self need a different place to put down roots? More room? Better soil?Different light to grow better?

I have a tiny birthday ritual.

Nothing fancy.

Time alone.

A good coffee.

A walk through the park.

Or simply around the block.

Maybe I'll buy myself flowers.

A few honest questions.

A little gratitude.

Maybe a wish or two.

This year, my wish isn't to become someone new.

It's to become more myself.

Here's to another trip around the sun.

May we all keep finding the light we're meant to grow toward.
